Elmhurst Public Library celebrates 10 years in 'new building'
ELMHURST – Elmhurst residents who remember searching shelves in Wilder Mansion for the perfect read may find it hard to believe, but the Elmhurst Public Library building is celebrating its 10th birthday.
“Everybody still calls it the ‘new’ building,” said Cher Moore, the library’s public information coordinator, with a laugh.
Part of the reason Moore believes it’s so difficult to believe the building is a decade old is because the library staff and community maintain it so well. She praises the building and grounds staff for their hard work but also recounts watching patrons and staff alike pick the occasional piece of trash off of the floor.
