Downers Grove police chase, arrest burglary suspect

DOWNERS GROVE – Downers Grove police arrested a man suspected of residential burglary Monday afternoon after a foot chase that ended in a shopping center parking lot.

Police said the man's name would be released once charges were filed.

At 4:45 p.m. Monday, officers responded to a burglary complaint in the 300 block of Brentwood Place when they spotted the suspect in the area. The man fled on foot through Whitlock Park, and then to the Dominick's parking lot in the 40 block of Ogden Avenue, police said.

Officers attempted to Tase the man, without success, police said. Eventually, officers were able to forcibly take the suspect into custody.

Charges were pending as of Tuesday morning.

The suspect and the arresting officer suffered minor injuries, police said.
