Downers Grove Historical Society to host Living Cemetery event Oct. 26

DOWNERS GROVE – The Downers Grove Historical Society will present its fourth annual Living Cemetery event from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 26 at the Main Street Cemetery, the same morning the Rotary Club’s Halloween children’s window painting tradition continues downtown.

During Living Cemetery, a cast of costumed actors portraying figures of various ages and walks of life buried in the cemetery. As visitors tour the grounds they can gather around each figure to hear a bit of the historical figure's life in old Downers Grove.

Living Cemetery visitors will have an opportunity to learn about village history through the stories of people similar to themselves who have gone before, the society said.
