Riverside Brookfield High School celebrates Homecoming
RIVERSIDE – Riverside Brookfield High School is celebrating Homecoming this week with a number of activities leading up to the Homecoming football game and dance on Friday and Saturday nights.
This year’s theme is Light up the Night. Saturday’s dance, which runs from 7 to 10 p.m., will feature neon colors. Voting for the Homecoming king and queen will take place Wednesday, and the winners will be crowned at a pep rally at 2:15 p.m. Friday in the gymnasium. The day will conclude with the home football game against Glenbard South at 7 p.m.
Each day of the Homecoming week will feature a different dress-up theme for students:
• Monday: Pajamas
• Tuesday: Sports team wear
• Wednesday: Neon day
• Thursday: Throwback (elementary school/childhood T-shirts)
• Friday: Crazy blue and white
Each RB grade level will receive points based on participation in the dress-up days, with the winning class earning the right to the “spirit bone.”
In addition to the pep rally and football game, Friday also will include tours of the high school for alumni, typically attended by alumni celebrating a reunion. This year’s reunion classes are 1963, 1973, 1968, 1983 and 1993.
Homecoming T-shirts will be sold, with all proceeds going to Victory for Vincent, a community effort to support Vincent Grigoletti, a Brookfield teenager with brain cancer, and his family.
The week also will feature RB’s annual talent show, RB’s Got Talent, on Thursday. The show starts at 7 p.m. in the auditorium and will consist of a variety of acts, including vocal performances, magic acts and instrument-based acts.
