LOMBARD – Friday morning, the Village of Lombard debuted it's video submission for the Rand McNally Best of the Road competition, a nationwide contest that recognizes small towns throughout the country in the categories of Most Fun, Most Beautiful, Most Patriotic, Friendliest, Best Food and Best for Geocaching.

In September, Lombard was named a finalist in the Most Fun category after being receiving more than 1,800 votes in the online voting contest. All of the finalists across the six categories were asked to prepare video, photo tours or essays explaining to contest judges why they should be named one of the top towns in America.

Lombard's video was posted to Facebook, Twitter and YouTube on Friday morning. This video showcases some of the village's most "fun" events and attractions, including Lilac Time, Cruise Nights, Paradise Bay Water Park and Yorktown Center.

Throughout the contest, which began in August, residents have been encouraged to generate excitement for the village and its bid to be named the most fun town in America by posting about the contest on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #bestoftheroad.

The contest ends Friday, and until Oct. 7, judges will review the final submissions from all finalists. These will be judged based on creativity, originality, persuasiveness, along with the content and volume of online activity surrounding the contest.

Winners in each category will be announced in mid-October.

Contest prizes include a trial license to Rand McNally's Best Town Travels, Rand McNally's digital travel planning guide; an editorial feature in the annual Rand McNally Atlas; and special coverage on bestoftheroad.com and inclusion as a point of interest in the Rand McNally RV GPS and Good Sam Trip Planner.

To view the video, visit the village's Facebook, Twitter or YouTube accounts.
