The family event will include a Superior Air Med 1 helicopter at 3 p.m. if the weather permits, an interactive 911 simulator that children can practice with and other safety information.

In addition to a Fire Safety House Education Trailer, the department will also give a fire extinguisher demonstration.

This year's theme for Fire Prevention Week is preventing kitchen fires. According to a release from the Elmhurst Fire Department, cooking is the leading cause of home fires and home fire-related injuries.
