Crews continue to reset traffic lights after Elmhurst power outage

ELMHURST – ComEd reports power has been restored to Elmhurst customers after less than two hours.

A ComEd representative said the outage affected about 3,200 total customers at 10:49 a.m. Power was restored to more than half of those customers within 15 minutes.The main feeder for power to Elmhurst, a 34 kv sub-transmission line was down. At this point, the city and ComEd are both unsure what caused the sub-transmission line to fail.

ComEd crews worked to reconfigure the power and restored it at 12:34 p.m. Friday.

According to the Elmhurst City Manager's Office, crews were still working to reset traffic lights on St. Charles Road at 2 p.m. Friday.
