Authorities still investigating Lombard police shooting
LOMBARD – An incident in which a Lombard police officer fired his service weapon during the early morning of Sept. 27 after being confronted by a man "brandishing a handgun" is still under investigation by the DuPage County Major Crimes Task Force, said Lombard Police Chief Ray Byrne.
Officers were called to a home in the 400 block of West Harrison Road at about 3:45 a.m. Sept. 27 to investigate a harassment complaint. When they walked up to the front door of a home, they encountered a man with a handgun. In response, one officer took out his service weapon and fired, but no one was shot or injured.
The suspect was taken into custody by additional officers who responded to the scene and transported to the Lombard Police Department.
