Prep roundup: WWS golfer Kelly Anderson wins tourney title

Wheaton Warrenville South’s Kelly Anderson carded a 71 to tie for first place at the Naperville North Rosie Invitational on Saturday and then subsequently defeated Neuqua Valley’s Jessica Yuen on the first playoff hole to take home top honors.

As a team, the Tigers placed eighth with a stroke total of 362.

Backed by an even-par 36 from Anderson, Wheaton Warrenville South also defeated Glenbard East 181-195 in a DVC match on Sept. 25.


Wheaton North

The Falcons came in ninth place at the Naperville North Rosie Invitational with a score of 380.


St. Francis

With Dan Mochel grabbing medalist honors with a 36, the Spartans defeated Glenbard West 157-164 on Monday.


Wheaton Warrenville South

The Tigers beat Glenbard North 25-15, 25-23 on Sept. 26 behind 11 kills and six blocks from Talia Holze. Rachel Burau totaled 20 assists and three aces and Kristin Martin had eight kills and four digs.

St. Francis

The Spartans beat Wheaton Academy 25-20, 25-9 on Sept. 26.

Wheaton Academy

The Warriors defeated Walther Lutheran 25-9, 25-17 on Sept. 25 behind seven aces and five digs from Jessica Bosse. Sydney Vischer had seven kills and Brianna Tellschow contributed nine service points and two kills.

Wheaton Academy then dropped a 25-20, 25-9 decision to St. Francis a day later.


Wheaton Warrenville South

The Tigers beat West Aurora 1-0 in a DuPage Valley Conference match on Sept. 26 before losing 3-0 to Batavia Monday.

St. Francis

The Spartans dropped a 2-1 decision to Montini on Saturday with Ian Hart scoring the lone goal.

Earlier in the week, St. Francis defeated St. Edward 2-1 on Sept. 25 behind goals from Keenan Corrigan and Jose Zepeda.

Wheaton Academy

The Warriors improved to 10-2-1 on the fall with a 3-0 victory over Wheaton North Monday. Jacob Fernandes, Grant Rougas and Ty Seager all netted goals.

Wheaton Academy also tied Batavia 2-2 on Sept. 27 as Seager and Marshall West both scored goals.


Wheaton North

The Falcons beat Glenbard East 6-1 in a DVC meet on Sept. 26

Emme Lindquist won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and Jordan Willhoit and Lisa Waterman picked up a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 1 doubles.


Wheaton Warrenville South

The Tigers notched an impressive fourth-place finish at Saturday’s Palatine Invite, which featured 27 teams, including four from out of state.

Freshman Sara Atkins broke into the top-10, coming in ninth with a time of 18:04.7. Fellow freshman Allison McGrath was 18th in 18:16.6.

Emma Schroer came in 37th, Kendall Laveen was 40th and Mard Erdman placed 53rd.

Melinda Franke (82nd) and Tori Adomshick (109th) also competed.

Wheaton North

The Falcons finished in 11th place at Friday’s Naperville Invitational with a score of 263.

Sophomore Jill Humecke covered the 3-mile course in 18:59.3, coming through the chute in 15th place. Kate Shikany followed in 46th-place.

Rounding out the scoring quintet for the Falcons were Kathleen McGivern (66th), Claire Fischer (67th) and Lindsay Johnson (69th).

Sarah Santizo (83rd) and Alison Farnsworth (85th) also competed.

West Chicago

Backed by the 11th-place individual finish of Lindsey Sayner, the Wildcats came in fifth in the ACC Charger Classic Gold race on Saturday.

Emma McCarthy and Mae Elizabeth finished 26th and 27th, respectively, Michelle Franch was 33rd, and Gena Rodriguez came in 37th.

St. Francis

The Spartans placed first in the Blue race at the ACC Charger Classic Saturday.

Meghan McShea was third individually in a time of 18:19.5.

Katie Vilimek placed 11th, Kate Beck was 16th, Colleen McShea finished 19th and Grace Grauke came in 21st.


West Chicago

The Wildcats had some individuals compete at Saturday’s Bartlett Flyin’ Hawk Invitational.

Joe Sawicki was 67th in 18:56.0, Dominic Sole came in 75th with a time of 19:58.2 and Evan Gebhardt placed 79th in 20:37.8.

St. Francis

The Spartans came in third-place in the Blue race at the ACC Charger Classic Saturday.

Leading the way was Nick Vilimek, who placed fifth in 15:52.8. Andrew Hallet was 10th, Danny Cady came in 19th and Breandon McClure was 23rd. Nick Brouch (28th), Nick Kolker (31st) and Mike Deaton (32th) also participated.
