Glenbard West’s boys golf team prevailed at the District 87 challenge Saturday, clipping Glenbard South by one stroke at Glendale Lakes.
Glenbard West compiled a team score of 320 with the Raiders at 321. Glenbard North (339) and Glenbard East (362) also competed.
West’s Will Hanson was the medalist with a 70. Kevin Nelson added a 79.
The squad then dropped a 157-164 decision to St. Francis Monday despite a two-over score of 38 from Hanson.
The Raiders finished second at the District 87 Invite Saturday, falling to Glenbard West by a 320-321 margin.
Christopher Dufort topped the squad with a 75 and Russell Matos added a 76.
Earlier in the week, Glenbard South defeated Timothy Christian 158-186 behind a 36 from Matos. Kevin Uvodich added a 37 while John Marks and Dakota Marino rounded out the top-four with a 42 and 43, respectively.
The Raiders came in fifth place at the Rolling Meadows Invite Saturday with a team score of 393.
Glenbard South dropped a 196-216 decision to Geneva on Sept. 26 despite a 42 from Abby Johnson.
The Raiders beat Elmwood Park 25-12, 25-12 in a Metro Suburban Conference match Sept. 26 as Sydney Bauman totaled five kills and three blocks.
Erin Millett and Tricia Weigand each had three kills, Riley Mullins totaled two kills and five aces and Katy Brainerd dished out 14 assists.
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
The Raiders placed eighth at Friday’s Naperville Invitational with a score of 195.
Caroline Arlasky led the way with her 19th-place time of 19:05.43.
Elizabeth Niedert and Becca Sippel were 33rd and 34th, respectively, Bailey Reese came in 52nd and Abby Schlenker finished 57th. Jayme Schlenker (61st) also competed.
GIRLS FIELD HOCKEY
The Hilltoppers knocked off Glenbrook South 2-0 Monday behind goals from Hannah Paterakis and Jaime Bishop.
The Raiders defeated Elmwood Park 7-0 in a Metro Suburban Conference dual meet on Sept. 26.Shelby Fritz, Priyanka Panjwani and Alaina Gillespie did not lose a game in their three singles matches.
Rachel Rettger and Jenna Brambora also won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles.
Glenbard South also swept Fenton 7-0 two days earlier in another league match.
Rachel Rettger and Jenna Brambora were 6-1, 6-0 winners at No. 1 doubles while Jennifer Lipa and Natalie O’Dowd emerged with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles. The teams of Isabel Gritsonis and Steph Jaster and Pearl Opem and Emily Schmidt also won.
