The Community House in Hinsdale to host fall programs

HINSDALE – The Community House, 415 West Eighth St., will host the following programs coming up this fall.

• The Bulls/Sox Academy will be hosting a Chicago Bulls all girls camp for ages 5 to 14 starting Oct. 5. This camp will teach the latest techniques in ball handling, passing, shooting and rebounding while also teaching children how to be student-athletes and teammates. Each participant will receive a replica autographed photo of Derrick Rose, camp T-shirt and personal scouting report.

• The Youth Center's annual trip to Great America for Fright Fest will take place from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 14 for ages 10 to 16. Guests are asked to meet at The Community House.

• Practices for the Jodie Harrison Junior Basketball League begin the week of Oct. 21 on Tuesday or Thursday for first-graders. This five-game (eight-practice) league introduces children to basketball and emphasizes learning the rules and fundamentals. Registration is currently taking place and games begin Nov. 9.

• Floor hockey for first-, second- and third-graders will start in late October. The league will focus on instruction and learning the fundamentals of floor hockey. Each practice/game day will consist of 30 minutes of drills and skill work followed by 45 minutes of game-time scrimmaging. Practice/game days start for third-graders on Oct. 21 and for first- and second-graders on Oct. 25.
