CLARENDON HILLS – Clarendon Hills police officers responded to Middaugh Road and Chicago Avenue after a driver hit a child on a bicycle at 7:43 a.m. Wednesday.

The light turned green for Middaugh Road and a 17-year-old Clarendon Hills driver

turned left from southbound Middaugh to eastbound Chicago Avenue.

A 12-year-old Clarendon Hills resident and Clarendon Hills Middle School student was crossing Chicago on his bike in the crosswalk and was struck by the vehicle, according to a news release from the village of Clarendon Hills.

Bright sunlight to the driver’s front contributed to the accident, according to the release.
