York orchestras to perform alongside Elmhurst College Philharmonic

ELMHURST – York High School Orchestras will perform alongside the Elmhurst College Philharmonic Orchestra at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 2 at the York Community High School's Baker Auditorium.

The concert is free and open to the public.

The evening will include performances by York's Cadet, Concert and Symphony orchestras under the direction of Ray Ostwald. Joanne May will conduct the Elmhurst College Philharmonic Orchestra.

The combined York Cadet and Elmhurst College Philharmonic orchestras will perform a setting of Johan Sebastian Bach's Chorale "Komm Susser Tod" and American composer Leroy Anderson's "Blue Tango."

The York Concert and Elmhurst College Philharmonic orchestras will then present Felix Mendelssohn's familiar "Wedding March" before the York Symphony Orchestra plays Anton Liadov's "Eight Russian Folk Songs" and excerpts form Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov's "Capriccio Espagnol" with the Elmhurst College musicians.
