LEMONT – Old Quarry Middle School was put on a soft lockdown for 30 minutes Tuesday morning as police investigated the report of a potential bomb threat, according to a letter from Old Quarry Middle School sent to parents and staff.

The letter said that a student reported to a teacher that he saw scratched out words that looked like “school bomb” in a bathroom. School officials could not read the small words but decided to put the school on a soft lockdown while police searched for any suspicious or out of place items.

According to the letter, nothing out of the ordinary was found but the school will continue to work with police and interview students about the incident.
