ADDISON – As part of an ongoing effort to help students prepare for life beyond high school, Addison Trail sophomores visited Illinois State University in Normal, Ill. this month.
The trip from Sept. 10 to 12 was part of Addison Trail's College and Career Readiness Plan. Over the course of three days, every sophomore student took a tour of the ISU campus. They were all treated like perspective students.
Addison Trail Assistant Principal Doug Wildes said that the high school's focus on the college process begins when students are freshmen.
Last year, Addison Trail freshmen visited the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Sophomores visit ISU, and upperclassmen are encouraged to go on college visits of their choice. The idea is to educate students about their opportunities after high school.
Addison Trail's College and Career Readiness Plan aims to expose high school students to a rigorous curriculum, help them achieve high grades and test scores, and encourage them to get involved in extracurricular activities.
