ELMHURST – A midwife with the Elmhurst Memorial Elmhurst Clinic recently received an award from the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM).

Shirley Moore has been practicing midwifery for 32 years. The Joyce Roberts Award recognizes her for Excellence in Midwifery in Illinois. During the Illinois chapter meeting for the ACNM, Moore was recognized for her leadership and mentoring along with her promotion and institution of water birth.

ACNM represents certified nurse-midwives and certified midwives in the United States. The professional association reviews research, as well as administers and promotes continuing education programs. It also works with organizations, state and federal agencies, and members of Congress to advance the well-being of women and infants through midwifery.
