Iron levels improving in Western Springs' Ridgewood Subdivision

Published: Friday, Sept. 20, 2013 3:10 p.m. CDT

WESTERN SPRINGS – Water samples from the Ridgewood Subdivision show that iron levels are improving, the village announced Sept. 18.

Iron levels have decreased substantially since June and July, the village said, but they are still higher than iron levels measured when the water leaves the village's water plant.

The village said it has contacted Baxter & Woodman, an engineering consulting firm, to conduct a more complete analysis of the high iron levels in Ridgewood.

Hydrant flushing in the subdivision is expected to start Sept. 26.
