Elmhurst District 205 Board of Education approves new contract with employees

ELMHURST – The Elmhurst District 205 Board of Education recently approved a new, four-year contract between the district and the Elmhurst Paraprofessional and School Related Personnel Council (PSRP).

Negotiating teams for both sides reached an agreement back in May, but because the majority of PSRP members are 10-month employees they did not ratify the agreement until the end of August. The board then approved the contract Sept. 10.

The contract includes pay increases related to the Consumer Price Index for the year in which the money is received. Health Savings Account contributions by the board for members were included, and insurance contributions remained stable.

The PSRP council represents about 260 District 205 support staff.

While the negotiations lasted about five months and included the assistance of a federal mediator, both sides expressed satisfaction with the final contract.
