Downers Grove Police still looking for attempted armed robbery suspect

DOWNERS GROVE – Downers Grove police are still looking for a man suspected of attempted armed robbery Tuesday morning.

The man is described as Hispanic, between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot and in his teens or 20s. He was described as skinny with facial hair on his chin.

Downers Grove Police Lt. Mike Willison said there were no new leads as of Thursday.

Police said the suspect allegedly showed a gun while attempting to rob a motorist sitting in a parked car at Saratoga and Franklin streets around 8:24 a.m. Tuesday.

He was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, dark jogging pants and white gym shoes. Police also provided a sketch of the man.

Area schools were briefly placed on lockdown while police searched for the suspect.
The lockdown was lifted at 10:05 a.m. Tuesday.

No one was injured during the incident and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information regarding the incident or who may recognize the suspect was asked to call 911.

Police did not provide any further information.
