Chicago Marathon executive director speaks at The Runner's Soul in Elmhurst

ELMHURST – The executive director of the Chicago Marathon recently spoke to runners at The Runner's Soul in Elmhurst.

Carey Pinkowski is responsible for recruiting athletes, designing the route, safety and all logistics of the race.

He talked to runners about his journey as a runner from his childhood in Indiana to his professional life where he has dedicated 23 years to the Chicago Marathon. He compared the race to life and encouraged his listeners to enjoy the whole experience.

Pinkowski also assured runner of the security of the annual marathon. Police and firefighters will be on the course in addition to the command center and surveillance cameras.

Those interested in meeting Pinkowski can see him at 7 p.m. Sept. 26 at The Runner's Soul in La Grange.
