Letter: Lisle reader questions President Obama's leadership
To the Editor:
Barack Obama is our duly elected president. Unfortunately, the title does not also convey the ability to be a leader.
We have witnessed five years of blame being placed everywhere but where it belongs, in the hands of our president. It is never about his decision-making, it's about race, blaming previous President Bush, maligning the votes of representatives actually representing the will of the people, and liberal intolerance of conservative social views.
President Obama continues to refuse responsibility on every issue except when issuing executive orders.
He drew a “line in the sand” with respect to Syria using poisonous gas and then said it was not his line, that it was in fact a line drawn by the world.
Given their reaction our allies and the United Nations view his comments as being without direction and commitment. If in fact the world has drawn the line then where are they?
For the United States to act unilaterally without knowledge of the consequences is unfathomable. Lack of leadership by President Obama has turned the Middle East into a terrible quagmire creating a situation first in Egypt and now in Syria into a no-win situation.
Due to the fecklessness of this president he wants us to choose between Bashar, who at least protects Christians, and Al Qaeda, which murders them with a vengeance.
No, we must not strike Syria until we know exactly what the consequences to our country will be.
