Planned fire drill results in police response at Oakbrook Terrace building

OAKBROOK TERRACE – A planned fire drill at an Oakbrook Terrace building housing ComEd offices resulted in a multi-jurisdiction police response after a customer being assisted by a ComEd representative heard the alarm and contacted the police, thinking it was a real emergency, according to ComEd's Twitter account.

The building was evacuated and there were no confirmed reports of intruders or injuries, according to the post.

Police received reports of a shooter at 2 Lincoln Court, which is located near near Butterfield and Meyers roads, at about 10 a.m. and officers from Oakbrook Terrace and several neighboring towns responded, according to media reports.

Neighboring office buildings were also evacuated as a precaution, according to media reports.
