BERWYN – Berwyn Public Library has a new trustee after board member Steve Brantley resigned to take on a new job out of town.

The City Council accepted Mayor Robert Lovero's nomination of Richard Jousef Mondragon to replace Brantley when it met Sept. 11.

Mondragon, vice president for global business development-emerging markets for Cooper Industries of Chicago, is a New Mexico State University graduate with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering, a Bachelor of Arts in international business, and an Executive Masters of Business from the University of Illinois.

He also serves as vice president of the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign) board, board vice president of Berwyn Development Corporation, and board vice president of Youth Crossroads.

Brantley resigned July 30 after accepting a position as Head of Reference Services at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.

He served on the library board for about a year.
