ADDISON – The Fourth of July holiday doesn't customarily bring presents, but for one Addison man, Independence Day was very generous this year.

Giuseppe Anelli recently discovered he won $1 million on a 4th of July Millionaire Raffle ticket he'd forgotten in his glove compartment.

Anelli noticed the ticket about two weeks ago and brought it into a gas station to see if he'd won anything. When he scanned the ticket, "file a claim" flashed on the machine's screen.

The ticket holder drove straight home to check the winning numbers online, and there his was. His wife started jumping up an down when he told her, but Giuseppe Anelli said he was in shock.

The couple have lived in Addison for 30 years. They plan to use their winnings to pay off their mortgage and invest in college funds for their three children.

Anelli purchased his winning ticket at Addison Citgo, which received $10,000 as a bonus for selling the winning ticket. The bonus is 1 percent of the prize.
