Wheaton teen killed in car crash on I-94

An 18-year-old Wheaton man was killed in a car crash while traveling eastbound on Interstate 94 in Gurnee at about 7:15 p.m. Sept. 15.

Andrew Wilcox was pronounced dead at 8:28 p.m. the same night, after being transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center, according Orlando Portillo, the chief deputy coroner of the Lake County Coroner's Office.

Wilcox sustained multiple traumatic injuries and his toxicology reports were negative, Portillo said.

The incident remains under investigation, according to the Illinois State Police Department.
