West Chicago driver faces multiple DUI charges after passenger dies in crash

A West Chicago woman has been charged with aggravated driving under the influence after a crash in Oswego killed a passenger.

Kristen M. Leonard, 31, of Highlake Road, West Chicago, was driving a vehicle that struck a guard rail on the shoulder of the road at 12:02 a.m. Sept. 15 in the 5000 block of Minkler Road, according to the Oswego Police Department.

The only passenger, Jason B. Callahan, 38, of Yorkville, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Kendall County coroner, police said.

Leonard was transported to Rush-Copley Hospital and was to be transported to Kendall County Jail upon release.

She is charged with aggravated driving under the influence - death, aggravated driving under the influence - great bodily harm, improper lane usage and failure to reduce speed, according to police.

Oswego Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
