Victory for Vincent event approved by board

BROOKFIELD – Resident Gina McCabe invited the public to attend a fundraiser for Vincent Grigoletti, a Brookfield teen with Medulloblastoma, a form of brain cancer, at the Village Board meeting Sept. 9.

The event, called Victory for Vincent, will be held at Kiwanis Park Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

McCabe posted on the Victory for Vincent Facebook page that there will be craft tables, bean bag games, softball, volleyball, lots of food and a raffle to benefit the eighth grader.

In her initial email to the village requesting use of Kiwanis Park for the event, McCabe asked if the village could permit event attendees to bring their own beer to the event. At the meeting, McCabe said she has since been informed by village staff that to have alcohol they would need to apply for a special event liquor license, which would cost around a thousand dollars.

“We don’t have the money or the funds to raise for [the license],” McCabe said. “It’s just not feasible.”
