Two Clarendon Hills police promotions includes department's first female sergeant

CLARENDON HILLS – The Clarendon Hills Board of Fire and Police Commissioners recently appointed police officers Ed Leinweber and Wendy Porter to the position of sergeant.

Porter is the first female sergeant in the history of the Clarendon Hills Police Department. She began her service as a Clarendon Hills police officer in April 2001. She has experience in patrol, juvenile issues and senior services.

Leinweber began his service as a Clarendon Hills police officer in June 2000. He has experience in patrol, juvenile issues, investigations and evidence duties. He previously served as detective.

The positions became vacant with the retirement of Sergeant Ray Janski in 2012 and the recent promotion of Sergeant Boyd Farmer to the position of deputy police chief. The promotion process included a written assessment and oral interview.

Leinweber and Porter will be recognized during the village board meeting Monday.
