Rev. Al Sharpton to speak at Elmhurst College

ELMHURST – Rev. Al Sharpton will speak on the impact religion has on the common good at Elmhurst College.

Sharpton will be the keynote speaker at the Fourth Annual Niebuhr Forum on Religion in Public Life.

A March Zogby poll found that one out of four African Americans says Sharpton is the person who speaks the most for them.

In addition to his role as a Baptist minister, Sharpton is also president and founder of the National Action Network civil rights organization. He hosts shows on MSNBC and syndicated radio.

It will be held at 7 p.m. in Hammerschmidt Memorial Chapel at Elmhurst College Sept. 22. Admission is free for Elmhurst College students, faculty, staff and alumni. Tickets for the general public cost $20 and may be purchased at www.elmhurst.edu/tix or at the door.
