Oktoberfest in Oak Brook to provide something for 'absolutely everybody'
OAK BROOK – Whether a fan of sports, beer, food or just wanting to meet Ronald McDonald, the Oak Brook Park District will have it on Saturday for its third annual Oktoberfest.
“This event is incredibly unique in that it has something that will appeal to absolutely everybody," said marketing manager Jessica Cannaday.
While many Oktoberfests are known for a beer tradition, the Oak Brook Park District is also offering several activities for kids starting around 1 p.m. This includes face painting, pumpkin walk, pony rides, fire department activities and a moon jump.
For adults, there will be a "futbol" tournament, softball tournament, home run derby and of course plenty of beer provided by local brewer Two Brothers, which has always been the official beer of Oktoberfest, Cannaday said.
“We wanted to go with a local brew and this year they're bringing out their beer truck for us so they'll be able to keep the inventory nice and cold," she said. "There will be plenty of beer on tap.”
The fest will also feature live music from the band New Invaders who will take the stage from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., and 7th Heaven who will perform from 5 to 7 p.m.
Sweet Baby Ray's will be grilling on site for an array of German and barbecue items, and if all that wasn't enough, Ronald McDonald will be on hand for pictures from 1 to 3 p.m.
