Past adoption fairs at Frisky Dog in Brookfield have found homes for 35 pets.

BROOKFIELD – Frisky Dog Daycare will host its Fall Adoption Fair Sept. 29 to showcase adoptable dogs from more than eight local shelters.

The event also serves as an open house for the daycare facility, which offers boarding, grooming, training and play groups for dogs. Veterinarians, groomers and Frisky Dog staff will be on hand to answer any questions about breeds, training and adopting a dog.

This is the fifth adoption event held by Frisky Dog since it opened two years ago. Together, the events have resulted in more than 100 adoptions, said Frisky Dog general manager and co-owner Ross Rolando.

“We just get more and more people every single time,” he said. “It’s pretty amazing.”

At the last adoption event, 350 to 400 people passed through the facility, Rolando said. Some of the participating shelters allow people to take home a dog right away, while others require a background check and home visit.

Whether an adoption is made at the event, it gives interested dog owners a chance to learn about the dogs and the adoption process.

“They get to meet the dogs. They get to talk to somebody who knows about the breeds so they can make some choices,” Rolando said.

The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 29 at Frisky Dog, 9216 W. 47th St. Those interested in adopting a dog are encouraged to bring their whole family to meet the dogs.
