Erica Wheaton Warrenville South's Isaiah Campos makes his way past Wheaton North during their home game Friday September 13 2013.

WHEATON – The Wheaton Warrenville South defense might not be very big. But over the first three weeks of the season, the unit is proving to be one of the best around.

Holding Wheaton North and Northwestern-bound quarterback Clayton Thorson scoreless through three quarters, the Tigers held on for a 17-13 victory in the DVC opener for both teams and improved to 3-0 in the process.

The Falcons fell to 2-1 on the fall.

Isaiah Campos led the offense for the home team, accumulating 137 yards on 26 carries and the senior opened the scoring with a six-yard TD run late in the first quarter.

A 26-yard field goal by Evan Jakubowski upped the margin to 10-0 at halftime.

A five-yard touchdown run by quarterback Ryan Graham with 7:21 left in the third quarter made it 17-0.

Wheaton North got on the board in the fourth quarter on a 20-yard run by Thorson. The senior QB added a three-yard TD scamper as time expired.
