VILLA PARK – Trustee Robert Taglia, who was re-elected to a second, four-year term in April, was charged with disorderly conduct on Monday after a neighbor decided to file a complaint for an incident that happend during the evening of Sept. 6, according to police.

Taglia, 41, of the 100 block of North Wisconsin Avenue was charged with one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct after allegedly shouting at his neighbor after her son hit his son with a plastic baseball bat.

According to police, Taglia's 4-year-old son was playing with neighbor children when a 10-year-old boy who lives across the street hit him with the toy bat. Taglia confronted the boy's mother who alleges in the police report that he pounded on the front door, yelled at her, pointed his finger inches from her face and referred to the woman and her family as "you people," which the victim told police she believes was racially motivated because they are Hispanic.

Taglia originally called police and paramedics to the scene to respond to his son, where the boy was treated at the scene for a small abrasion, but his neighbor filed a complaint at Addison Field Court on Monday afternoon and an arrest warrant was issued.

Taglia turned himself in at the Villa Park police station, posted $150 bail and was released.

Efforts to reach Taglia for comment were unsuccessful.
