Published: Monday, Sept. 16, 2013 5:30 a.m. CDT

LA GRANGE – The Gilbert Avenue railroad crossing will close from 9 a.m. Sept. 20 to 5 p.m. Sept. 27 as BNSF replaces the crossing, the village announced on its website.

Traffic will be rerouted to cross the tracks at Burlington Avenue or Wolf Road in Western Springs.

Pedestrians should use the crossing at Clausen Avenue in Western Springs, which is approximately two blocks west of Gilbert Avenue, or the crossing at Wolf Road and Brainard Avenue. Pedestrians should only cross at identified, dedicated pedestrian crossings, the village said. Residents might experience a temporary increase in noise levels during the repairs.

With questions, call the village's Public Works Department at 708-579-2328.
