GLEN ELLYN – The B.R. Ryall YMCA of Northwestern DuPage County will host its 10th annual Community Cookout Sept. 21 to celebrate its three areas of focus: youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

The event, featuring free food, games, crafts, entertainment and giveaways will run from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the YMCA, 49 Deicke Drive, Glen Ellyn.

The B.R. Ryall YMCA asks that attendees bring books to donate to Literacy DuPage for children 12 years old and younger.

For those who can't make it to the cookout, the organization is collecting books from Sept. 14 through 21, and community members are free to drop off donations at the YMCA anytime that week.

For one day only on Sept. 21, residents may sign up for a YMCA membership without paying a joiner fee. This special offer excludes youth memberships.

The B.R. Ryall YMCA serves Carol Stream, Glen Ellyn, Glendale Heights, Warrenville, West Chicago, Wheaton and Winfield.
