Althoff: Ale Fest just one of many Lisle Chamber events this month

This month, the Lisle Chamber presented a program on Lean Six Sigma with speaker Ann Knurek from Molex Corporation.

This quality control program was very well received by those in attendance. The theme of the program was how to reduce waste in one’s business or organization. If you would like information on this please contact the Lisle Chamber.

We finish off this month with a Cruise Night this Saturday. This event will be located in downtown Lisle with Main Street blocked off and the cars on either side of the street.

Since it is later in the year we will begin the program at 5 p.m. Included in the night is a raffle for some great certificates from Lisle businesses and a 50/50 split the pot. Trophies are given out for the best car in several different categories as selected by local leaders.

Lisle’s French Market continues through the months of September and October with the Saturday morning gathering in the commuter parking lot.

There are many great products available, including produce, baked goods, jewelry and art pieces, and there is always live entertainment. Kudos should go to Paula Gleason the market manager for putting together a wonderful variety of vendors.

Our September luncheon will feature representatives from FEMA who will discuss the recovery from the April flood and what the ongoing concerns are. The luncheon will be Thursday at the Hilton Lisle.

As was announced last month, on Sept. 28 the Lisle Chamber will present the Lisle Ale Fest.

This premier event will feature the opportunity to taste many different craft beers. Brewers from 40 different craft breweries will be present with two beers each. Thus, there will be 80 different beers available for tasting.

Each ticket holder will be given a souvenir glass where they will receive a three-ounce taste of as many as 18 different beers. There will be food vendors and a blues combo present as well. The theme of the fest is “Beer, Barbecue, and Blues.”

Designated driver tickets are also available, which include free soft drinks and water.  The event runs from 4 to 8 p.m., however, VIP admission is available and provides admission one hour earlier and a souvenir T-shirt and food voucher.

So come and celebrate with us and support our local vendors. Then enjoy the beauty of downtown Lisle.

Tom Althoff is CEO and president of the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce
