Published: Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013 8:46 p.m. CDT

ELMHURST – For the past year, dogs and their handlers have visited patients at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, but now the Animal-Assisted Therapy program needs more pups.

Those interested in the program can submit their application online. They will then be contacted for a pre-screening.

Those who qualify will then be scheduled for temperament testing on Sept. 21 at the Edward Sleep Center in Warrenville.

Once selected, handlers and dogs must attend training Oct. 25, 26 and 27 at Elmhurst Memorial.

For more information, visit www.emhc.org/animal-assisted-therapy, or call Dee Panek at 331-221-1158.
