Elmhurst College to host discussion about heroin use in the suburbs
ELMHURST – A group of education, law enforcement and addiction treatment experts will speak at Elmhurst College about heroin use in the suburbs.
Illinois State Sen. Matt Murphy (R-Palatine) will moderate the event titled, "Heroin Highway: A Panel Discussion."
Panelists will include DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin, who has participated in numerous heroin education forums throughout the county.
CEO of the Robert Crown Center for Health Education, Kathleen Burke, will also speak on the panel. Burke has worked on an intensive collaboration to stop the increasing number of heroin deaths among young people.
The president of Haymarket Center, which helps people recovering from chemical dependency, will also speak. Dan Lustig has more than 20 years of experience in the addiction field.
The panel will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 24 in the Founders Lounge of Elmhurst College's Frick Center. Admission is free and open to the public.
