Darien Police Department seek auxiliary officer

DARIEN – The Darien Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of auxiliary police officer. The auxiliary police officer position is a civilian, unpaid, volunteer position.

Qualifications to be auxiliary police officer include being at least 21 years old, possessing a high school diploma or GED, having a valid driver's license, being in good physical condition, possess good character and cannot have any felony convictions.

Duties of the auxiliary officer include, but are not limited to, patrolling the city, assisting with traffic control, handling car lockouts, animal complaints and parking enforcement. Some weekends, nights and special event duties are required.

Testing of candidates will include a background check, drug screen and a psychological exam. Uniforms and equipment will be supplied by the city.
