Spring Road invites teachers to enjoy discounted shopping
ELMHURST – Two years ago, Kelly Synowiec-Moroney decided she wanted to give back to the people that were keeping her kids out of trouble and teaching them everything from their ABC’s to prayers to sports.
“My kids are spending how many hours a week with them?” Synowiec-Moroney, a mother of two School District 205 students, asked herself about her children’s teachers and coaches.
That’s when she organized the first Teachers Night Out on Spring Road. Her office, Tree of Life Chiropractic Center, and other area businesses joined together to offer discounted and free goods and services for one day to the teachers of Elmhurst.
“It’s for anybody who’s helping out our kids,” Syno
That includes classroom teachers, administration, staff, coaches and volunteer educators. Synowiec-Moroney wanted to make sure to include all of the people helping out the community’s children. She said some of the most positive feedback she received from religious education teachers who Synowiec-Moroney believes don’t always receive as much acknowledgment as other educators.
“We wanted to give back,” she said.
During the third annual event, Tree of Life Chiropractic Center will offer teachers free posture scans during the event via new iPad technology the center began using just a few months ago. Teachers will have the results emailed to them a few minutes after the scan. They can also learn about ways to reduce pain and fatigue caused by standing all day with complimentary foot scans.
“I want a stress-free person hanging out with my kids all day long,” Synowiec-Moroney said.
The center will also offer free mini-massages, treats and refreshments along with the chance to win a 60-minute massage.
Teachers don’t need an appointment. They just need to show up with their facility ID and enjoy an evening of pampering, dining and shopping.
“We’ve had a couple more businesses added,” said Amity Davis, a chiropractic assistant, about the growth of the event over the past few years.
While the chiropractic center will host teachers from 3:15 to 5:15 p.m. Sept. 26, other businesses on Spring Road will offer a variety of discounts at different times.
