Glenbard East wide receiver Joe Difino stretches for extra yardage during their game Friday Sept. 6 at Oswego East High School.

Area teams enter conference play with something to prove. Addison Trail and Willowbrook look to take down the preseason favorites in the West Suburban Gold. Montini looks to go 3-0 against Wheaton Academy. Glenbard East tries to win its last DVC opener.

Glenbard East at West Aurora

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday

Where: 1201 W. New York St., Aurora

Records: Glenbard East 1-1, West Aurora 1-1

Outlook: The Rams' offense has been schizophrenic in the first two games of the season, but that could be due to injury. East's offense looked good in a Week 1 win over Willowbrook, but got shut out while four wide receivers were injured in the Week 2 loss at Oswego East. DuPage Valley Conference foe West Aurora cruised past East Aurora and lost to Plainfield East 35-12 last Friday.

Montini at Wheaton Academy

When: 7 p.m. Friday

Where: McCully Stadium, 501 College Ave., Wheaton

Records: Montini 2-0, Wheaton Academy 1-1

Outlook: After beating two big class schools in Maine South and East St. Louis the Broncos enter Suburban Christian Conference play this week. The Broncos will be heavy favorites to move to 3-0 against a Wheaton Academy team that is from the lower level Gold division. Last year Montini beat the Warriors 35-0.

Addison Trail vs. Downers Grove South

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday

Where: 213 N. Lombard Rd., Addison

Records: Addison Trail 0-2, Downers Grove South 0-2

Outlook: AT hosts Downers Grove South in both its conference opener and home opener. Both teams are looking for first wins after playing 2012 playoff teams in each of the first two weeks. While the Blazers struggled to hang with Glenbard South and Hinsdale Central, the Mustangs lost to Benet 21-0 and Proviso West 19-12.

Willowbrook at Hinsdale South

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday

Where: 7401 Clarendon Hills Rd., Darien

Records: Willowbrook 1-1, Hinsdale South 0-2

Outlook: Willowbrook bounced back from the disappointment of losing to Glenbard East in Week 1 in a big way in an upset win over Lyons Township. The Warriors are the only team in the West Suburban Gold to have a win so far this season and open Gold play against Hinsdale South. The Hornets have losses to Romeoville and Downers Grove North.
