ELMHURST – The Trojans hope to be among the Class 1A contenders yet again.

Timothy, which won a regional last year, returns leading goal scorer Jon Cuomo. The senior midfielder will continue to be a key playmaker that should also get scoring opportunities.

Junior captains Tyler Vlasak and Andrew Wieringa also will be regulars in the midfield. Freshman Josh Anderson has worked his way into some minutes, as well.

Senior captain Wes Ditchfield will lead the back four with Nate Palladino, Greg Biesboer and Alex Markewycz to guard goalkeeper Mike Wieringa, who is in his first year as a starter.

Senior Kyle Brouwer and sophomore Ben Lodewyk have both tallied goals on a regular basis in early season matches.

The Trojans picked up an impressive 4-0 win over 1A rival Lisle in the first game of the season and held a 3-3-1 record going into Thursday’s match at Francis W. Parker.
