Soccer preview: Core players will help Broncos’ consistency

LOMBARD – Montini has had an up and down start to the season, but with an experienced core of players hopes to become more consistent as the season progresses.

The Broncos have a core of players with multiple years of varsity experience. Jimmy Clausing is a key four-year varsity player at forward.

Kashow is one of a group of juniors entering their third year of varsity soccer. Midfielders Albert Holler and Mark Kalal also fit into that category.

The Broncos have picked up encouraging 2-1 victories over Proviso West and Timothy Christian, but also have losses to Nazareth and Wheaton Academy. Montini entered Thursday’s conference match against St. Edward with a 1-1 Suburban Christian Conference record after dropping a match to Marian Central on penalty kicks on Tuesday.
