Prep roundup: Dukes volleyball tops LT

York's Rachel Iverson helped the Dukes to a 4-0 week, including two wins over conference foe Lyons Township.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

York

After sweeping the Lyons Township quad with match wins over the host Lions, Sandburg and Lake Forest last Friday, the Dukes beat LT again on Tuesday to open West Suburban Silver conference play with a win. York won 25-20, 25-19 with five kills and seven digs from Alex Hojnar.

IC Catholic

After a 7-0 start the Knights ran into Class 3A favorite St. Francis in the opening Suburban Christian Conference match. The Spartans beat IC 25-18, 25-15. Delaney D’Amore had six kills and nine digs for the Knights. Kimmy Martino had 13 assists and six digs.

Timothy Christian

The Trojans picked up a conference win over Ridgewood 25-15, 25-11 on Tuesday. The next day Timothy fell to Latin 25-17, 19-25, 25-13.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

IC Catholic

The Knights were 10th out of 11 teams at the ICOPS Invitational at Reed-Keppler Park in West Chicago on Saturday. Phillip Roberto was the top Knight by finishing 30th.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

York

The Dukes were fifth out of 13 teams at the Leavey Invitational hosted by St. Charles East. Junior Dayle Mueller was York’s top runner by taking ninth place.

BOYS GOLF

York

The Dukes placed 13th out of 27 teams at the Batavia Invitational on Saturday by shooting 326.

IC Catholic

Montini beat the Knights 160-178 in a dual meet on Tuesday at Fresh Meadows Golf Course.

Timothy Christian

The Trojans lost to Aurora Central Catholic 158-186 on Tuesday and lost to Ridgewood 167-176 on Wednesday.

GIRLS TENNIS

York

The Dukes went 2-2 at the Downers Grove South Invite last weekend to place seventh out of 16 teams. Blaire Porter and Angela Avgerinos went 4-0 at No. 1 doubles. During the week the Dukes beat Wheaton North 8-0 on Monday and edged past Oak Park River Forest 4-3 on Wednesday in the West Suburban Silver opener.
