Police: Lyons man faces attempted murder charge in Riverside after trying to drown woman
RIVERSIDE – The Riverside Police Department reported they have filed an attempted murder charge against a Lyons man who police said tried to drown his girlfriend over the weekend.
Michael D. Bruner, 60, of the 8000 block of Christie Avenue, Lyons, was charged with one count of attempted murder and one count of aggravated domestic battery by strangulation on Sunday. Police said Bruner also has a listed address in the 100 block of Lawton Road in Riverside.
Police reported they received a "frantic" 911 call at around 2 a.m. Saturday from a woman who told dispatchers that her boyfriend had tried to kill her several times that evening. Police responded to a coach house in the 100 block of Lawton Road and found a 53-year-old woman standing in front of the main house. Police said the victim was screaming and visibly upset when officers arrived on the scene.
