Court rules in favor of Park District in Gordon Park case

LA GRANGE – The Park District of La Grange received notification from an Illinois appellate court Thursday that it can proceed with its attempt to sell 2.82 acres of Gordon Park.

The court affirmed a lower court ruling that was being appealed by the Friends of the Park group. The court spent about 18 months reviewing the case, in the end deciding to let the park district sell the land, Park District Executive Director Dean Bissias said.

Bissias said the Park District has received about 8 to 10 calls from developers during the appeal process, but no formal offer has been made.

"We really don't know much about it other than the court upheld the lower court's ruling," he said.

The $2.2 million renovation of the park's west end is ongoing, and Bissias said he hopes it will be done by mid-October.
