WESTERN SPRINGS – The West Suburban Gold did not fair well in its crossovers against the Silver Friday night, but the one Gold team that won did so in emphatic fashion.

Willowbrook beat host Lyons Township and nearly broke the scoreboard in doing so. Quarterback Brian Johnson passed for 660 yards, seven touchdowns and ran for another TD in a 62-49 upset victory.

The Warriors improved to 1-1 on the season and will play at Hinsdale South in a Gold opener next week.

LT fell to 0-2. The Lions have another crossover next week in the first road game of the season at Leyden.
