Weekend watch: DGN wants to win again; DGS, Westmont looking to enter win column

Downers Grove South is looking for its first football win after falling to Benet in Week 1.

As Week 2 of the high school football season kicks off, Downers Grove North looks to win again while Westmont and Downers Grove South are hoping to break into the win column.

Hinsdale South at Downers Grove North

7:30 p.m. Friday

Where: 4436 Main St., Downers Grove

Records: Hinsdale South 0-1; DGN 1-0

Outlook: The Trojans had a stellar debut in Week 1 by lashing Lockport 45-0 thanks to solid play in all three phases of the game. The Hornets are coming off a 32-29 loss to Romeoville in their opener.
Downers Grove South at Proviso West

7:30 p.m. Friday

Where: 4701 Harrison St., Hillside

Records: DGS 0-1; Proviso West 0-1

Outlook: The Mustangs received a stiff test in the opener and fell to 2012 state semifinalist Benet. Now the Mustangs look for their first win against an athletic Proviso West squad. The Panthers are coming off a triple-overtime loss to Evanston.
Westmont at Plano

7:30 p.m. Friday

Where: 704 W. Abe St., Plano

Records: Westmont 0-1; Plano 1-0

Outlook: The Sentinels opened the Otto Zeman era last week with a rocky showing against Herscher. Things won't get any easier in Week 2 on the road against a solid Plano team.
