Village code officer on patrol for violations

Published: Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013 2:28 p.m. CST

RIVERSIDE – Riverside’s Village Code Enforcement Officer has begun making its rounds, seeking out messy front yards, eyesores and safety concerns, according to Village Manager Peter Scalera.

“Any homes that are in violation of any of our ordinances will receive a door hanger informing them of their violation and the time they have to rectify the violation,” Scalera told the Board of Trustees at its public meeting Thursday night.

Codes residents can be cited for range from accumulated trash, animal feces and grass or weeds more than 8 inches tall to graffiti, broken down cars and garages.

If residents fail to satisfactorily fix the violations spotted by the code enforcer in the time given, they could have to pay a fine.
