BOLINGBROOK – Older hockey players now have a league to call their own thanks to Rocket Ice Arena.

Hockey Five-0 is a new league for players 50 years old and above. Teams are forming now for the start of the season Oct. 4. Teams in the no-check league will be comprised of 10 core skaters and a goalie. Cost is $379 per player for 25 league games. Games will take place Friday nights.

To level the playing field, potential players will be rated based on skill level and drafted on to teams. Ray Lilja, a USA Hockey-certified Master Level coach, will be on hand to watch players during free rate skate sessions at 9:20 p.m. Sept. 10 and at 9:30 p.m. Sept. 20. The league draft will take place after the rate skate sessions.

In addition to the Hockey Five-0 league, Rocket Ice Arena is also hosting Rat Hockey Five-0 for players 50 years old and above. Cost to participate in each session of Rat Hockey Five-0, which is separate from the league, is $15.
